In society, the desire to get rid of unwanted hair is growing more and more, both for aesthetic purposes. To do this, various methods are used, such as epilation, depilation and shaving, however, the best results are achieved using apparatus methods - lasers, which provide a safe, long-lasting and effective result.

LASER EPILATION is a procedure that gets rid of unwanted hair with the help of a light pulse of a certain wavelength. The pigment inside the hair follicle absorbs the light and converts it into another type of energy, in this case heat, which traumatizes the hair follicle and prevents further hair growth. In other words, it is called selective photothermolysis.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE. The laser intended for skin treatment works on the principle of "selective photothermolysis". Respectively, the light beam of a certain wavelength emitted at a certain place, which is selectively absorbed by the target tissue (natural or artificial chromophore), causes its thermal damage. In the case of laser epilation, the affected target tissue is the hair pigment - melanin. It absorbs light between 690 and 1000 nm, so devices in this wavelength range can be used effectively to reduce hair growth.

WHO DOES IT DO? Laser epilation can be performed on both women and men and people of any skin color. It is performed both for aesthetic purposes and for medical needs, for example, if there is hirsutism (increased hair growth in women following a male pattern) or hypertrichosis (increased hair growth in areas where hair does not normally grow).

CONTRAINDICATIONS. Laser hair removal should not be performed on persons who have recently tanned, who have implanted a pacemaker or other metallic implant in the treated area, persons with previously identified malignant skin formations, active inflammatory elements in the treated area (eg rash, psoriasis) or skin healing disorders (eg keloid scars) formation), pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, persons with photosensitive diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus or porphyria, epilepsy, immunosuppressive conditions (HIV/AIDS, a history of organ transplantation or use of cytostatic drugs), as well as during the use of certain medications that increases the sensitivity of the skin to light, such as isotretionine or antibiotics of the tetracycline group.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE PROCEDURE? Epilation, depilation or mechanical pulling of hair should be avoided approximately six weeks before the procedure in order to minimize inflammation in the treated area. In order to achieve optimal results, before the procedure it is necessary to shave or trim the hairs to a length of about 3 mm. Also, you cannot sunbathe the treated area for at least 2 weeks, but preferably 4-6 weeks before the procedure. in particularly sensitive areas and persons with a low pain threshold, if necessary, a pain-relieving cream can be applied half an hour or an hour before the procedure.

THE RESULT. It should be emphasized that laser hair removal reduces permanent hair growth, rather than ensuring its permanent destruction. The result is not visible immediately after the procedure, the hair is destroyed gradually until the first results can be observed in the second week after the procedure. After each treatment, the hairs will grow less and less, will be thinner, lighter and finer until they are gone. However, it is impossible to give a firm guarantee, because some people tend to grow slightly lighter and thinner hairs.
